The (late) birthday pendant from my earlier post has now been received. While I had the pendant completed in time, I spent ages trying to get the cord right. In the end I had to make myself stop and send it anyway.
It is a blue tigers eye, with a polymer clay bezel set with glass beads. It is strung on a multiple strands (rattail, hand twisted viscose and a strand of gunmetal bugle beads).
This was devilishly difficult to photograph – trying to capture the fire in the stone but not my reflection (and huge black camera lens).
My inspiration in making this piece (after finding the beautiful stone) was the work of Chris Kapono and this free tutorial by Christi Friesen.

Those are AMAZING! I didn’t even know you could DO things like that!
Your comment makes me happy, I hope you are inspired!
Ok so i am REALLY late on this……….. really late. BUT I was trying to find swirls to inspire me to make a stone cap in polymer for a quartz stone I have. This is PERFECT. I have no idea how you did those swirls like that, they are amazing! I have tried and well lets just say a few choice words came as a result hahaha. (I just started Polymer in January, so I still kind of new at it). Its beautiful. =)
I start the swirls by making a thin snake of clay and then I use a ball stylus to shape them (this also helps make them stick down). It takes a while and I do several bakes so that I don’t squash the one’s I’ve done while I’m working. Enjoy 🙂
